Instalada no Centro Histórico de Vila Franca de Xira, a Igreja Matriz dedicada a São Vicente foi fundada em 1667 pela Ordem Terceira de São Francisco. Não se trata da Igreja Matriz primitiva, que estava implantada onde hoje se situa o Largo Conde Ferreira.
O terramoto de 1755 danificou seriamente o templo original. Quando reconstruído a sede paroquial foi transferida para aqui, tendo já no século XX sofrido novas intervenções.
Hoje em dia muito alterada no seu interior, a igreja desenvolve-se numa só nave. Na fachada realce-se o brasão acima da porta que reproduz o símbolo da Ordem dos Franciscanos com os braços de São Francisco e de Jesus Cristo.
Main Church of St. Vincent Settled in the Historical Centre of Vila Franca de Xira, the City’s Main Church, dedicated to St. Vincent was founded in 1667 by the Third Order of St. Francis. It is not the primitive Main Church, which was implanted where today stands the "Largo Conde Ferreira".
The 1755 earthquake seriously damaged the original temple. When it was rebuilt, the parochial headquarters was transferred here, having already suffered new interventions in the 20th century.
Nowadays, the church's interior, very altered develops in a single nave. On the facade, stands out the coat of arms above the door that reproduces the symbol of the Franciscan Order with the arms of St. Francis and Jesus Christ.
