Monumento de Homenagem aos Combatentes da Grande Guerra
Por iniciativa da Câmara Municipal e do Núcleo da Liga dos Combatentes deste concelho, foi inaugurado em 2015, o Monumento que pretende homenagear e imortalizar os combatentes naturais do Concelho de Vila Franca de Xira que participaram e perderam a vida em combate na Grande Guerra.
Da autoria do escultor João Duarte, trata-se de uma obra concetualmente abstrata com elementos geométricos. Segundo o autor a mesma baseia-se numa pureza de linhas simples, alcançando uma verticalidade acentuada, através dos triângulos que transmitem sobriedade e meditação.
Monument Honoring the Soldiers of the Great War On the initiative of the City Council and this Municipality League of Combatants Nucleus, was inaugurated in 2015, the Monument that aims to honor and immortalize the natural combatants of the Municipality of Vila Franca de Xira who participated and lost their lives fighting in the Great War.
Authored by the sculptor João Duarte, it is a conceptually abstract work with geometric elements. According to the author, it is based on a purity of simple lines, achieving a pronounced verticality through triangles that convey sobriety and meditation.
